A delicious roundup of the 16 best recipes of 2016 from my blog.
As I write this post, I am still in post Holiday mood, curled up in bed with a movie on. The kid is munching on a snack and you’d never guess what it is – a plate of soft brie with pretzels and cranberry jam. I kid you not! It all began when we went on yet another of our jaunts to our favorite Hill Country food store which sells wines, cheese, sauces, jams and jellies. While perusing things to buy, I saw Boy “sampling” some cheese and crackers with some sort of fruity spread. I was proud but slightly mortified. Mortified because we’d just had burgers for lunch and the scene before me was almost Dickenesque, like he was some underfed orphan!
So now he’s snacking on cheese and jam, and this fixation will probably last all of 2 days, after which I’ll be left with a wheel of brie to use up. Still, I’m a happy momma.
And, I am an even happier blogger. I love how the blog has evolved this year. This year saw me concentrate more on quality rather than quantity and it has paid off. I made new friends in the virtual world and fell madly in love with all things Instagram. If you are not following me there, please do now!
As I’ve done in years past, here is the best of the best recipes from the past year. These are my favorite recipes of 2016 in no particular order. Have you tried any of them?
Boy loves all things chimichurri. He loves this green sauce on tacos, tossed with pasta and in bread too, like I discovered with this beautiful wreath bread. Don’t let its good looks fool you, it is really simple to make and you can use whole wheat flour too. The spicy, tangy chimichurri sauce stuffed in the dough makes this an irresistible breakfast or dinner bread. Eat it by itself or pair it with some creamy soup.
