Valentine’s Day brings out the best and sometimes the worst in people. For some, the day has to be picture perfect, with flowers, wine, candlelit dinners and wooing; anything less and all hell breaks loose, while others couldn’t care less. As for the mister and I, we are in it just for the food. Especially if they are as sweet as these. If you are planning a cozy meal for two or feeding an army, you will find ideas for breakfast and desserts sweet enough for the special day right here. And yes, most of them involve strawberries or chocolate, though I do have a couple of surprises in store for you. Enjoy!
Begin the day right with a sweet breakfast of paper-thin crepes stuffed with caramelized bananas. Never made crepes before? They are easier than you think. Read the post for tips and tricks. What’s more? You can totally make them ahead, assemble and reheat before serving in the morning. Or noon. Or whenever!

2. Lemon, Yogurt & Berry Waffles
Don’t want to flip crepes? Let the waffle iron do all the work for you. Try my lemon, yogurt and berry waffles with a sweet raspberry sauce. Crisp on the outside, light and fluffy inside, they are the perfect start to your day.

3. Chocolate Covered Strawberries With Dulce De Leche
Chocolate covered strawberries are a must-have Valentine’s Day treat. They are perfect though. Since it’s mostly fruit, these are relatively healthy and very easy to make. I added a layer of luscious dulce de leche to my chocolate covered strawberries for added oomph. Yum!

These pink cuties are a snap to make and absolutely delightful. Both the cupcakes and the buttercream frosting are made with real juicy strawberries and contain no artificial flavors or colors. They add cheer to any dessert plate and appeal to both kids and adults alike.

If strawberries are not your thing, and you’d rather have something dark and indulgent, these chocolate cupcakes are what you should be baking. Topped with a light and fluffy chocolate whipped cream frosting, every bite is a chocolate lover’s delight!

6. Homemade Chocolate Truffles
If cupcakes are not your thing but candy is, why not make some fancy chocolate truffles? They look and sound fancy, but let me tell you, truffles are really easy to make at home. What’s more, you can totally customize the coating. Better yet, set up a truffle rolling and coating station and have fun on your date night!
