My most favorite time of the year coincides with my least favorite season, yet somehow manages to make it all magical!
I just love this time of year – all the fun stuff aside, this is also a season filled with the wondrous anticipation and grace of God’s loving promise to us.
Here is what’s going on around our house this season.
Lovely soft Christmas tree lights.
A beautiful vignette on the bedroom side table.
Hope you remember the table from this post. I simply added a few Christmas themed items.
A village scene and whimsical paper trees.
Guess what Boy brought home yesterday? A gift for Mom & Dad.
Notice the adorably flipped letters ‘s’ and ‘a’!!! I am loving his quirky letters so much, I am going to display it both ways.
And then there is the baking.
Butter cookies crusted with colored sugar sprinkles. Psst… that is the only sugar in the recipe. (If you need more sweetness, feel free to add frosting.)
Love the smell of freshly baked bread in the house. We really must come up with some method to convey smells over the web, don’t you think?!
For those of you wondering, this is a cream cheese and berry jam swirled coffee-cake/bread. It did not quite go according to plan and I did not achieve the swirled effect. So I had to improvise and make folded loaves. Still, it was delicious! Here is the recipe, if you’d like to give it a try.
It is so easy to be overwhelmed by everything, but it is more fun to keep it simple and heartfelt. And just sit back and watch the twinkling lights.
Hope you are having fun this Christmas season.

So glad you made the cookies! Thanks for the link, too. I am intrigued by the coffee cake bread. I probably won’t have time to make it before Christmas, maybe I’ll do it for New Year’s Day. 🙂 Merry Christmas!
