I might a be a little late posting a lemonade recipe, as summer is giving way to fall, though it doesn’t seem that way in Texas. Still, better late than never, right? I pinned this recipe for Brazilian lemonade (it is made using limes, actually), but just now got around to making it. What was I thinking? I should have made it ages ago and survived summer on this alone!
The original recipe calls for limes, sugar and condensed milk, which I swapped with coconut milk. The result is a light, creamy, frothy and delicious drink that is sure to please anyone.
Usually, the limes are first blended whole, peel and all, which gives this drink a unique flavor. This means the drink has to be made fresh and consumed immediately, otherwise the peels will start to give off a slight bitter after-taste. So sometimes, I simply juice the limes first and then blend it with coconut milk and a simple syrup. This ensures that I can store it in the refrigerator for a while, making this the perfect make-ahead sunny day beverage.
Here is the recipe.
- Sugar - ½ cup
- Water - ½ cup
- Limes - 3, large
- Coconut milk - 1 can (chilled)
- Ice cubes - 8-10
- Mint leaves - to garnish, optional
- Make the sugar syrup first. In a saucepan, take sugar and water and heat till the sugar dissolves. Cool and use.
- Quarter the limes and throw them in the blender with a little water, around ¼ cup. Blend coarsely and strain the pulp using a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher. (If you are picky about the ever-so-slight bitterness from the peels, simply juice the limes and proceed directly to the next step.)
- Rinse the blender. Combine the lime juice, sugar syrup, coconut milk and ice cubes and blend well.
- Taste and add more sugar if you like a sugary drink (I didn't add any). Garnish with mint leaves and serve immediately.
Enjoy this creamy, tangy and sweet beverage!
This drink is so creamy and frothy. Love it!!
Do try this. It is so good. You know how you associate particular dishes with certain ingredients. Like, fragrant pulao with Basmati rice, buttered toast with bread or a sunny bulls-eye with eggs (yes, I do that!). And now, whenever I see limes, I think of this drink!

This is easy to be made SF. I used Lakanto. Then I added bourbon and swooned. So good!! Great fat bomb.
Oh my! That sounds delish, I’ve never tried spiked version.
Quite a bold combination. Coconut and lime..wow…was it closer to thai soups kind if taste?
Not quite, but it was equally refreshing! the original recipe calls for condensed milk, but I substituted it with coconut milk for a lighter version. Do try it.
I will. Condensed milk doesn’t sound too inviting.. Cals n more cals:)

Ooh…I was skeptical of a creamy lemonade too. But I really works!
That looks unbelievably refreshing! I’ll have to try it since it’s always hot here in Malaysia!!! Thanks for the great recipe!

Thank you. Hope you try it!
This is so different and I would love to try it. Using whole limes seems like a tasty idea. My daughter lives in Dallas and she says the heat isn’t letting up at all. I wish we were that lucky!
Do try it, Sandra. I was skeptical when I heard about it at first. But it is really amazing.
I know what you mean about the heat in Texas!
This drink looks so refreshing! I could use it since it’s 94 and crazy humid today where I live! Thank you so much for linking up to Frugal Crafty Home Blog Hop!
Thanks Carrie! Its been the same here the past few days. Hope you enjoy this sweet drink.
Ooh, exotic and indulgent, I like it! X
Thanks Deena!
Such a soothing, rocking beverage idea! Thanks for that 🙂
And how lovely the touch of red looks on top of snow-white foams 🙂
Brilliant photography 🙂
Hugs.
Thanks a lot, Nusrat!
Coconut milk in lemonade – that is such an original twist to for me. Have to try out some days.
Oh, please do try it. It is definitely a fresh spin!
This looks refreshing. I’m a little jealous that It still feels like summer where you are. We are getting that crispness in the air. Adding a little coconut rum might be nice for an adult version of this drink, too!
Thank you! Texas has just two seasons – summer and winter. We seem to skip spring and fall, and I am always jealous of the folks in places where the leaves change color and the days are cool and all…haha!
Do try this drink. I found it refreshingly different and it can easily be customized like you said.
