We went on a mini vacation last weekend to Corpus Christi in Texas. It is a small city along the Gulf of Mexico, with beaches as the main attraction. But we decided to skip the famous beaches, and headed out to the remote Malaquite Beach, along the Padre Island seashore.
Boy had a list of things to be done at the beach – have a picnic, make sand castles, play in the water! He did all of them!! We had tons of fun and currently look like cooked red lobsters!
Needless to say, someone was not ready to head back!
We had dinner that day at the famous Rudy’s BBQ. If you are ever in Texas, do check this out! Simple, but delicious barbecue fare and they’ve replaced Bill Miller’s as my source for the yummiest potato salad!
The next day, we visited the USS Lexington at the Bay.
It was awe-inspiring and humbling at the same time. To think that soldiers had to live in such cramped quarters and be at constant peril during war.
Here is Boy checking out war planes on the ship’s deck.
Stunning view of Harbor Bridge from the deck.
Hello, sailor boy!
We visited the Texas State Aquarium next. Can you see how this friendly dolphin was mimicking Boy’s stance!
I’ll leave you with this awesome shot of a jellyfish. (I do not take credit for this one, it was shot by hubby!)
We thoroughly enjoyed this little weekend getaway. Now, if only I could do something about the sunburn and aching muscles!
