Dry Vase Arrangements And A Blog Milestone

April 25, 2013 by Anjana @ At The Corner Of Happy And Harried 18 Comments

We’ll do that in reverse order. The milestone first.

I am happy to announce that last night my blog views crossed the 10K mark! Woo-hoo!! In only my third month of blogging!

A big shout-out to all my regular and occasional readers. You guys are the best! Keep visiting!

Don’t forget to follow me via email (button on the right) or Bloglovin’ or Pinterest or all three!

Dry Branch or Twig Arrangement 7

Now onto today’s post. By dry vase arrangements, I don’t mean the fake flowers kind. You can still make an arrangement for a side table or a table centerpiece that is almost impossible to kill. You know, with real flowers, if you forget to do the ‘change water-snip the tips at a an angle’ routine every other day, they don’t last very long. And unless you have a really green thumb, real flowers from the grocery store start burning a hole in your pocket very soon.

I’ve always sworn that I will never go the fake flower route. But I do own a few stems of fake flowers (hangs head in shame), bought in a desperate bid to add some color to our apartment. Then I came to the perfect solution. You may recall my love of branches and twigs in decor, like the ones I used in my Easter egg tree or my winter vignette. Why not use them throughout the year?

The possibilities are endless. Gather some dry branches and twigs (the more weird-shaped they are, the better), grab a vase, and stick them in. Simple, easy and elegant.

For color, you can stick on some delicate crepe paper flowers.

I have used some dried eucalyptus stems with the twigs.

If you are using a clear vase, keep the bottom interesting by adding rocks or moss.

Fake berries are allowed if they are really pretty!

You can even paint the branches or twigs to match your decor. Like I said, the possibilities are endless!

Do you use branches in decor? What do you think of the idea?

Thanks for coming over! Got the berries from Hobby Lobby. The one piece of Christmas decor that I still haven’t put away 😉
