Ever since Boy started pre-school, he has been bringing home a load of artwork each week. Even otherwise, the kid loves to paint! I was looking for a cute way to display some of his artwork, instead of just sticking them up on the wall. We needed a designated space, else I knew the whole house would start looking like his classroom.
I wanted something simple and pretty. I saw a lot of cool ideas to use twine and clothespins to hang pictures and other artwork. Like this one from Lowe’s creative ideas website.
I knew I could whip up something like this. I used multi-colored woolen yarn to create a pattern on the wall. I made sure I could hang at least 5-6 copy paper size sheets.
Then I collected a few watercolors by Boy and hung them up for us to admire. I can change it out regularly to accommodate his school work too. Easy-peasy.
I used plastic clothespins I had on hand. I need to get some cute wooden ones and let Boy paint them.
Since I made a criss-cross pattern with the yarn, I can simply slide large sheets between the yarn and not use pins to hold them. Did I tell you how easy it was?!!
That’s my kind of DIY!!!
Oh, by the way, the little guy’s painting skills have really taken off in the past couple of weeks. He now tries to paint within the outline of a picture, and he does a pretty good job!
Like these ones.
He draws the cutest sun!
And he wants a car in almost each one of his paintings. Boys!!!
So, what do you think? Do you have any creative ways to display your kid’s artwork? Let me know in the comments.
