I fried fish the other day. It was yummy, but I dreaded the dish washing session. This is what my frying pan looked like.
Indian fried fish with lots of spices means not-so-good-looking pan. Moreover the dish sponge would get really dirty trying to scrub this pan.
But I had a plan. I sprinkled some baking soda on the pan and spritzed some white vinegar. You could use plain or diluted vinegar. I always keep a spray bottle of 1:6 diluted white vinegar in my kitchen for such purposes.
You can see the concoction doing its magic (releasing CO2 gas, that is). Leave it on for a couple of minutes.
I used an old toothbrush to scrub the pan well. I then rinsed the pan and washed it with regular liquid dish soap.Voila, a clean, smooth pan. The baking soda and vinegar lift the grease right off.
It passed the sniff test too! And no dirty, yucky dish sponge!
And yes, this is a well-loved, well-tempered, real-life frying pan!
Do you have any such kitchen tips and tricks?
I am linking this up at the Clean House link Party at I Heart Organizing.
